Ok, in this tutorial you will be making an image like this:

This is an advanced photoshop tutorial. You should know how to do most of what I am saying, if not, post and I will update the tutorial with information on how to do something.

The three source images I used can be founs at sxc.hu, more specifically:

Girl Image
Tree Image
Umm.. I can't find the plant texture. You will have to find your own! Hopefully that will help get some range of work smile.gif

I am assuming that you are amember at Sxc.hu. If you aren't, it's free, and the photos are all stock photos, meaning that (as long as you ask) you can use the photos in work that you do!

Remember, in my advanced tutorials, I just give you a guide of what to do, but I won't give you:
  • Values for Filters
  • Hex numbers for colors
  • Commands/Hot Keys
Now let's begin

1) Open up your girl.jpg image and resize it. It is too big if we're going to replace her towel with the tree. I resized mine to have a width of 350-450ish.

2) Open up your (hopefully) very awesome plant texture. Drag the texture into the gril picture and clone stamp it until it fills the whole image.
  • Select the clone stamp tool:
  • Set the brush size to ~50-75
  • Hold Alt and click somewhere on your texture
  • Start brushing/cloning!
Make sure it's nice and even and it doesn't repeat itself close together (to make it more believable).

3) Make a layer mask on that layer by clicking where indicated:

4) Take out your brush tool and paint black around the girl (where you do not want the texture) until it is only on her skin. You don't want it on her eyes, hair, lips, teeth, towel, or outside of her body.

5) Set the texture layer's blending mode to Color Burn. If she is too yellow (as she was in mine), duplicate the texture layer and set the duplicate's blending mode to Color.

6) Using the lasso tool, roughly select the lips and deselect the teeth inside of them.
Make a new layer and fill the selection with some green. Now select the teeth and fill them with a different yellow-green. Go to filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and blur it so it's just a little fuzzy around the edges.
Now set this layers Blending Mode to Color.

7) Now make a new layer. Select the hair and fill it with green. For the small strands of hair, use a 1px brush and color them green. Blur this like you did the lips and set the Blending mode to Color.

8) Now drag the tree into the picture. Make a layer mask and brush black outside of the tree so only the tree is visible. Remember, in a layer mask, you can see white, and you can see through black. Transform (Ctrl+T) the tree for size and rotation so it matches the towel as closely as possible.

9) Finally, the eyes. Select the iris' of the eyes with a circular marquee tool, then delselect anything you have that is not the iris. Do this for both eyes, then fill with a nice, deep red. Deselect and blur these, and set the Blending Mode to Color. Now, if you want, paint the white of the eyes with a light to medium green to make them glow green a little.

Hopefully you can understand that, and hopefully you got something that looks pretty tongue.gif

If you hve any problems, make sure to check out My PSD (But be kind to my bandwidth.) (EDIT: Though now it's zipped to like 700k less fud.gif)
