Cool Text Effect
Step 1: The first thing you want to do is open up a new Photoshop document. I made mine's the size 670 by 500, but you can make yours what ever you want. You just need some space to make some nice text. After you have the document opened grab the text tool. Write inside the document any text that you want using the verdana font, size 72 or bigger. I wrote PsTweaks.com. Step 2: The next thing you want to do is to change the font color of the text to, "009CBE". After you have done that go to layer/ duplicate layer. Now you have two of the same layers overlapping each other. Select the text you just duplicated, and then go to edit/transform/scale. Now what you want to do next is stretch the text from top and bottom. Once you have done that press ok. Step 3: Now go to layer/layer style/blending options. Go down and take off the color overlay, but select the gradient option. Once you have done that make the gradient stretch with these two colors, " 009cbe" and "FFFFFF", which is just blue and white. Step 4: The next step is to set the opacity to about 44 percent. After setting the opacity is set click ok, and exit out of blending options. Now were going to use the pen tool. You should be pretty familiar with the pen tool if your going to do this. First make a new layer, by going to layer/new layer. Then grab the pen tool and your going draw a wavy line on top of the text. Then make sure your brush is at the standard 5 pixel brush. If it is. you should then go to windows/path/ and then right click stroke path. You should now have this wavy line over your text. Step 5: Change the color of the wavy line to, "B3E7F3". and the opacity to 60 px. Now your going to repeat the last step and your going to make another wavy line under teh text layer. This is what you should have so far. It dosent have to be exactly like mines, remember the key is to be creative. Step 6: Once Again were going to repeat step four with the wavy line. Your going to make several more wavy lines but under the text layers. You can make them pointing out in what ever direction you want. This time though you want contrasting colors. I chose the color, "89C900" which is a green, with the opacity set to 30 px. Step 7: This is the part where you have to be a little creative with the pen tool. What we want to do is make a new layer. Then grab the pen tool. We are now going to draw paint drips from the text. If you dont know what I mean, you know when you see graffiti and you see the paint drips, this is exactly the same thing. Then once again your going to do the path/ right click/stroke, but this time the brush pixels should be at 3. Step 8: Now that we have this go to window/layers. The layer menue pops up. Once you have that scroll all the way down to the bottom. Find the background layer. Now what you want to do is make it invisible. In order to do that you have to click the eye next to the layer name. You should have a checkered board as the background now. Once you have that what you will want to do is merge everything. So go to layer/ merge visible. Then maket the background visible by clicking the eye again. So everything should still look the same, the only thing thats different is that the whole text is one layer. Now go to filter/distort/glass. Set the distoration to 5 and the smoothness to 3. The texture is at frosting and the scale at 100%. Step 9: Once you have that press ok and you have your cool text design.
