Forum Icons
In this tutorial will teach you how to make trendy forum icons just like the ones of DF. Step 1: Create a new document, 300x300 should be plenty of room. Set the background color to white. Click Here For Image Step 2: Create a new layer. Now select the rounded rectangle tool with a radius of 3 and create a small rounded rectangle around 50x50. Step 3: Right Click the layer and go into blending options. Use the following settings: Note: change the color to match your skin. Click here For Image Step 4: Create a new layer and CTRL+Click the layer to make a selection of it. Brush the selection with a with a white brush like so: Step 5: Go to select>modify>contract and contract by 1px. Now go to select>inverse. Now delete the selection (press the delete key). Step 6: set the layer mode to Overlay, and lower the opacity to around 85%, thus creating a nice shine. Step 7: Select the Text tool and type your websites initials in the center of the icon, With AA on Crisp, and the following font settings: Step 8: Set the text layer mode Overlay. This icon will represent New Posts. Step 9: Now to make a no new posts icon, just duplicate the icon, delete the text, and change the color to a more mellow color. Step 10: Too create a closed forum icon, change the color to a deep gray, and change the text to an X. Wa-la! your done, you should now have 3 sharp looking post icons.
