Blog Date Icon Tutorial: In this tutorial, I will teach you how to create a trendy icon, to display the date, for your blog. Step 1: Create a new document 100×100. Fill the background white. Step 2: Select the rounded rectangle tool and set the radius to 3px. Set your Foreground color to #3c3c3c, and make a rounded rectangle like I've done. Step 3: Create a new layer. CTRL+Click the rectangle layer icon. Go to Select>modify>Contract. Contract by 1px. Step 4: Select a soft white brush, roughly around 65px, then brush the selection like I've done. Step 5: Now that you've brushed the selection, lower the opacity of the layer to 27%. Create a new layer, and make a white rounded rectangle, as I've done. Step 6: Create a new layer, then CTRL+Click the white rounded rectangle layer icon. Go to select>modify>contract, use 2 pixels. Brush the selection with a soft black brush, like I've done. Step 7: Lower the opacity of the layer to 39%. This creates a nice shade effect. Step 8: Now all you have to do is add some text and your done! Feel free to experiment with new colors. Here is how mine has turned out. Like this tutorial? Click here to register at our forums today! |

Zen:
I like the touch you've added. Airforce: Nope, you would have to code it for whatever you wanted to use it on. Example: http://ilovedigit.com |
