Forum Registration Banner:
In this tutorial I will teach you how to create a clean registration banner like you see in modern forums today. Step 1: Open up a new document 700x100. Set the background color to white, and use rbg color. ![]() Step 2: Create a new layer then select the rounded rectangle tool. Set the radius to 3px. Create a rectangle like so: Note: the color is up to you, I used #2b5ec6. ![]() Step 3: Use the following blending options on the rounded rectangle. ![]() Step 4: Select the pen tool and draw a shape like I have done: ![]() Step 5: Right click inside the shape and click "make selection". Once you have a selection you may delete the "Shape 1" layer. ![]() Step 6: Create a new layer. Now fill the selection with a white to transparent gradient. Go from top to bottom when making the gradient. ![]() Step 7: Gently erase the white with a 100px soft brush until it gets thin and looks like mine: ![]() Step 8: Set the layer mode to overlay. This should give it a strong shine. Lower the opacity to your liking (I used 60%). ![]() Step 9: Repeat steps 4-8 a bunch of times, creating a bunch of different shapes and curves at all different opacity. Also mix in a few with black to transparent gradients. ![]() Step 10: CTRL+Click the original rounded rectangle layer, creating a selection of it. Now go to select modify contract and contract by 2 pixes. ![]() Step 11: Right click inside the selection with the rectangular marquee tool. Click "Select inverse". now select all your shape layers and then press delete. What that does is delete all the excess overhang. ![]() ![]() Step 12: Select the horizontal type tool and type a cool quote on it. Use the font Ariel with the following settings. ![]() Step 13: Apply drop shadow on your text with the following settings: ![]() Ta-da! your done. Please register in order to download the .psd. ![]() Like this tutorial? Want the .psd? Click here to register today! |

I love the wavy lines that you made with the pen tool. I don't really know how to use the pen tool. Will you show me?

May I ask how you get your pen lines to be so smooth? What I mean by that is when I try to create those shapes, it turns out ugly because the lines are not fluid in that you can see the line kind of abruptly bend as opposed to yours where it's just fluid with no bend in them. Do you mind telling me where you put the points for the pen tool?
